Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS PICO GENESIS?
PICO Genesis laser procedure takes an entirely new approach to the treatment of pigmentation issues and skin revitalization. This method combines the benefits of two highly effective wavelengths in ultra-short pulses to cause an intense, non-thermal, photo mechanical disruption and remodeling of the upper dermis.
What does this mean for you? A brighter, more uniform complexion in less treatment sessions than traditional methods. Originally developed for tattoo removal, picosecond lasers are now being used for a variety of conditions, including skin toning, reducing hyperpigmentation, and building collagen with virtually no downtime.
WHAT IS PICO GENESIS USED TO TREAT?
Recommend for all skin types I-VI, the PICO Genesis laser procedure is used to treat:
-
Brown spots
-
Sun damage
-
Age spots
-
Melasma
-
Hyperpigmentation
-
Pigmented lesions
HOW DOES PICO GENESIS WORK?
The PICO Genesis laser procedure uses a non-thermal laser that fires at one-trillionth of a second (picosecond) - thus the name PICO Genesis. The contact time to the skin is so short that it does not produce any heat or cause damage to the surrounding tissue. The laser's photo-acoustic capabilities destroy the unwanted pigment, while waking up the cells beneath the dermis to encourage collagen and elastin growth, leaving your skin clearer and giving you a more even, uniform complexion over time.
BENEFITS OF PICO GENESIS
Benefits of PICO Genesis procedure include:
-
Ultra-short laser pulses that leave skin looking radiant without damaging the tissues.
-
Dramatic results with minimal downtime and fewer treatment sessions.
-
Ability to be used on the face and body to correct skin irregularities.
-
Short sessions that last 20 minutes from beginning to end.
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
The use of topical numbing cream is optional. The procedure itself takes approximately 20-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated. Should topical numbing is desired, an additional 30-45 minutes will be needed.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Depending on your concerns, a single laser treatment or a series of treatments may be recommended. For patients with dark pigmented lesions, advanced photo-aging, or acne scars it is recommended to receive at least 3 sessions at 4-6-week intervals.
